The challenge
- Official SC historical markers are roadside text. You have to be standing there to read them, and the plaque rarely carries more than a short inscription.
- There was no single place to browse every official marker, hear the context, or open a lesson from a photograph of the plaque.
The approach
- Built a map of every official historical marker in the state.
- Each pin opens the inscription, a spoken lesson, and a short film derived from a real photograph.
- Scanning a roadside plaque opens that same lesson on the phone.
The outcome
- The product is live at palmettomarkers.grok.me.
- Travelers and locals can browse the full set of markers, or scan a plaque in the field to open the lesson.
